Jay Leno, New York’s sensational multi-talented comedian is bringing his indelible comedy to Palace Theatre Columbus!
James Douglas Muir "Jay" Leno was born in New Rochelle in 1950 and is a comedian and TV host. He grew up in Andover (Massachusetts) and started a comedy club there in 1973. He made his debut on the Tonight Show in 1977 by doing a comedy routine and he also had several minor roles in 70’s TV series and films. In 1987, Jay became a substitute host for Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show and became his successor 5 years later. His succession was not without controversy though, as David Letterman was expected by many (including Carson himself) to host the show. He kept doing stand-up aside from hosting the show and created the Jay Leno Show after he stepped down as the Tonight Show host. He’s also starred as a voice actor in smash hits such as Ted 2, Ice Age: The Meltdown, Cars, and Igor. He’s received numerous accolades including a Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, 2 Primetime Emmy Awards, a People's Choice Award for Favorite Late Night Talk Show Host, and 2 TV Guide Awards for Favorite Late Night Show. In 2000, he was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
